Did you know every Sunday, you can visit the back bay science center for a FREE community day! They are open from 10am-2pm and the kids will love it!
What can you do there?
Tide pool touch tanks
First, you can visit the outside touch tanks where the kids can learn, see, and touch real ocean animals! They have star fish Sea anemones, crabs, nurse sharks and sting rays!
The teaching lab
Then you can enter inside the building to the learning room. You’ll find all sorts of fun things to learn, small artifacts, an octopus, sharks, jelly fish, and lots of other fun marine animals! You can even watch them feed them.
I loved that it was quite and not crowded so the kids could really get up close and ask all the questions they wanted! This was such a cool learning experience.
The kids can learn how to use binoculars and practice looking for birds and leaning about the different types we have at the bay!
Go on a hike or nature walk
The back bay is a beautiful place to explore. They have nesting birds and an abundance of wild life! I love when I find something the kids enjoy outdoors. They can learn and explore and take a step away from all of the material things we get so accustomed to.
