Costco can be a huge benefit for families trying to save money, but it can also be huge a waste of money if you buy the wrong things or waste food.

I have an average size family of four. My kids are currently 6 and 2 years old. Below I’ll show you my must have items, the items I buy for parties and holidays and the extra’s that save you a ton of money when you need them!

25 items every mother should buy at Costco

1. Annies Organic Mac N Cheese $12.99

My kids love Mac and Cheese and although I try not cook this all of the time, I love having in my pantry on hand as needed. This is such a good deal for a 12 pack. The price is $1.08 each. (Pavillions sells them for Most stores retail them for $2.69 each or sometimes on sale 2 for $4.00

2. Organic long Grain Brown Rice – $10.99

We cook rice a-lot in our house! The kids love it and another benefit is that it is gluten free and high in fiber. So it is a perfect side dish. This bag lasts us forever!! Probably 5-6 months! Saves us so much money seriously.

3. Kirkland Organic Olive Oil $10.99

Again this is a staple household item and it’s a great size so it will last you forever! We use olive oil for so many dishes and cooking so this is a huge money saver.

4. Kirkland Organic Almond Butter $11.69

This is such a great deal for the size and once again lasts a longtime in this household!

5. Nutella snacks on the Go $13.99

Such an easy snack to bring anywhere and my kids love it! Works out to be .87 cents each.

6. Veggie Crips $3.99

I love this for a lunch snack or after school snack. Gluten Free, Fiber, Veggies and brown rice + Organic ingredients. This a really big bag too so it goes a long way.

7. Acai Berry Juice $7.99

Great for smoothies or drinking a glass for breakfast. This is a really big bottle for this great price

8. Mexico Ice Cream pops $9.99

The kids love these on the weekends and we I love to have them on hand to share with neighbor kids! .41 cents each!

9. Zip Lock Baggies Variety Pack $14.69

I only have to buy these twice a year! Such a good deal.

10. Kirkland Diapers $29.99

The prices vary slightly on size but the deal is better than any other brand. Also, they are manufactured by Huggies and basically the exact same thing!

11. Kirkland Paper towels $16.99 (12 rolls) 

We use a lot of paper towels in our household and this seems to last us 3/4 months! They are great material and very sturdy for clean ups. (.70 cents per roll)

12. Kirkland Baby Wipes $19.99

These wipes are just the best!! Even if your kids are older they are great for wiping hands and faces. Good for the park and the car too. The packs are large and it lasts us about 4/5 months! We store these up in the kids closet and I just get them down as needed.

13. Kirkland Ultra Soft Tissues $14.99

This might seem like a lot of tissue but if you can find a spot in the garage to put them it’s a great deal! It lasts our family the entire year. I like to have them in the bathrooms and one in car etc. 

14. Meyer’s Clean Day $13.99 (3 pack)

I love the cleaner because it’s not filled with harmful chemicals and safe to use almost anywhere. Again a 3 pack under the sink will last forever.

15. Kirkland Organic Eggs $6.99

These free range brown eggs are a great price and although we don’t eat eggs everyday my kids do like hardboiled eggs for snacks and they last about a month in the fridge. While not pasture raised, they’re cage- and antibiotic-free. They’ve partnered with several small family farms throughout the country, which guarantees peace of mind for Costco and gives these smaller purveyors a steady stream of business.

16. Ready made Taco Kits $5.49 a pound

Skip cooking one night! These are so good and all of the work is done for you! They are sold by weight but most of them around $15.00 so that’s a really affordable dinner with no effort.

17. Organic spinach and cheese ravioli $9.99 (2 pack)

These will last a a few months in your fridge and I love having on hand for a night I don’t feel like cooking. My kids love them with olive oil, salt and some parmesan cheese.

18. Organic Romain Lettuce $3.99 (6 pack)

I mean, this is a lot of lettuce yes but it’s the same price as organic lettuce in the grocery store. So you might as well buy it here and hopefully you’ll eat extra salad that week. If not you didn’t loose any money.

19. Organic Blueberries $6.99

My kids eat these almost everyday and the container is a great size for the price! If you didn’t buy organic you can get double the size for half the price. However, then it’s full of pesticides and poison so I always buy organic. (still a great deal)

20. Parmesan cheese $12.99

I use parmesan cheese a-lot when I’m cooking and I usually sprinkle on tops of all of our salads too! This is a huge tub for a great price and will last in your fridge for months.

21. Wine, wine & more wine. 

A-lot of the kirkland brand wine is amazing and is rated very highly! The prices are amazing too! So, if you like to drink wine stock up here once a month.

22. Batteries $16.99

If you are a mom I’m sure you use batteries all of the time for kids toys, devices and all over the house really. This is the best place to buy them and they will last you awhile!

23. No damage wall mounts $10.99

I seriously use these all of the time for hanging pictures, and decorating around the house. They are also so expensive at target and you usually get a 4 pack. Buy them here and your good for a few years!

24. VEGA Protein and energy shake mix $39.99

You can get this on amazon for the same price but you’ll’ get a-lot less. This size is 32.8 OZ opposed to else where 24-28 oz for same price. Same with all of the other great brands they have. So if you like to add protein to your smoothies I would get it here!

My daughter has always been a picky eater and these we like to call “monkey milk” are amazing! She loves them and they are so easy for after school snacks or running to activities.
