Have you ever wondered how to make non-toxic finger paint for babies and kids at home? Well, today this lesson just fell in my lap and I just happened to have all of the ingredients on hand! It was fun, a little messy and a really good activity to pass the time but also get in our creativity for the day.

If you are anything like me, we are currently struggling with the stay at home order during the COVID 19 crisis and I am home schooling and entertaining both the kids. I am also trying to keep the house clean, cook all of the meals, keep up with the laundry, take care of myself, exercise and somehow manage to keep up with this blog that used to be the one thing I got to do for myself. It’s just really hard trying to be everything to everyone and try to find some sort of balance.

Some days are easier than others, and sometimes a DIY science and art project is the last thing I want to do, yet other days I find myself excited to let the kids get messy and bring out our creativity. Today the kids wanted to paint. My 3 year old recently dumped out all of our paints into a bowl to make his version of slime while I was inside for 2.5 seconds. Long story short we had no paint left.

So today when they asked me to paint, I said I can figure this out. I am sure I can just make paint using some ingredients we have on hand! I tried googling a few articles and then came up with my own version. It came out fantastic and I am so happy to share our recipe with you!

Add hot water to mixture while stirring. Just add small amounts until it gets to the right consistency. Be careful not to add too much hot water or the paint will be watery and not show up great on paper.
